What is a cookie
A cookie is a tiny text file a website stores on your device so it can remember things between visits — for example that you are signed in, or that you prefer dark mode. We also use related technologies (local storage, session storage, pixels) and group them all under "cookies" for the rest of this page.
The categories we use
We group cookies into four categories. Only the first is set automatically; you choose whether to allow the rest in our preferences panel.
| Category | Purpose | Can you disable? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Make the site work — sign-in, security, fraud-prevention, CSRF protection. | No (the site cannot run without these) |
| Preferences | Remember choices like language, recently viewed listings, dismissed banners. | Yes |
| Analytics | Aggregated, anonymised stats so we can improve the experience. | Yes |
| Marketing | Off by default. Only loaded if you opt in to personalised ads from partners. | Yes |
Cookies we set
The exact cookies we set today (subject to change — we keep this list current):
| Name | Set by | Lifespan | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID | GoGeter | Session | Keeps you signed in for the current browser session. |
gg_csrf | GoGeter | Session | Anti-forgery token used on every form submit. |
gg_prefs | GoGeter | 1 year | Remembers your cookie choices. |
gg_recent | GoGeter | 30 days | Recently-viewed listings shown in the header overlay. |
_plausible_* | Plausible Analytics | 1 day | Cookie-less analytics — only stores a hashed daily fingerprint, no personal data. |
_stripe_* | Stripe | Session | Required for secure payment forms when you book a service. |
Third-party services
Some pages load resources from trusted third parties (maps, payments, fonts). When they do, the third party may set its own cookies under its own policy:
- Google Maps — when a map is embedded on a listing or business page;
- Stripe — on pages that handle payment;
- Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly traffic stats.
How to manage cookies
Three ways to control cookies:
- Our preferences panel — click "Cookie preferences" in any page footer to toggle Preferences, Analytics and Marketing categories.
- Your browser settings — every modern browser lets you block, delete or be alerted when cookies are set. Look in Settings → Privacy.
- Sign out — closes your session and clears the session-only cookies above.
Heads-up: blocking Strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and bookings.
Changes to this policy
Whenever we add, remove or change a cookie we will update the table above and bump the "Last updated" date. For significant changes (new analytics provider, marketing partner) we will show a banner so you can review and re-confirm your choices.
